Song Joong Ki's 'Hwaran' Invited to 76th Cannes International Film Festival
On April 13, Cannes Film Festival Secretariat had a press conference in Paris, and announced the official invitation list for this year's Cannes International Film Festival. It was then confirmed that the action-noir film "Hwaran," directed by Kim Chang Hoon, is one of the works to make its debut at the annual event.

"Hwaran" follows the story of a boy who wants to escape the hellish reality and unexpectedly meets a guy running an organization, embarking on a perilous journey together.
A-list star Song Joong Ki headlines the film and is said to take the role of the mid-boss named Chigon.
Joining him is the newbie Hong Sa Bin.
Despite being an in-demand actor, Song Joong Ki decided to do "Hwaran" for free. He even gave assistance to the film's production, showing his big support and enthusiasm in doing the project.
Song Joong Ki To Make First Red Carpet Attendance at Cannes Film Festival
The 76th Cannes International Film Festival's notable section named 20 distinctive and original masterpieces from different regions and cultures. It has been said that this category has garnered a lot of attention from the masses since 2021 as it particularly invites promising young directors.
Since "Hwaran" made a spot to be at this year's Cannes Film Festival, and is Song Joong Ki's first project to be invited at the event, it is predicted to receive a lot of support not just in Korea but abroad.

All eyes are on Song Joong Ki as it marks his first attendance at the Cannes Film Festival. Fans are looking forward to his red carpet-debut. Some are also curious whether he will bring his wife Kate Saunders to the event.
Meanwhile, the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards announced its list of nominees for Best Actor. Despite being one of the primary reasons for "Reborn Rich's" success, along with veteran actor Lee Sung Min, Song Joong Ki failed to get any nominations.
